Gala Report: Winsford Summer Development Meet

On 7th July a group of Satellites’ younger and less experienced swimmers travelled to Winsford Swimming Club for their summer development gala. We had a record number of young swimmers going to this gala which demonstrates the strength of our junior squads and this is good for Satellites future.

This was the first gala away from our home pool for many of the swimmers. However, every swimmer excelled and the squad come home with 55 medals (14 gold, 19 silver, 22 bronze) and 72 ribbons (30 4th place, 21 5th place, 21 6th place). There were many many PBs with every swimmer gaining at least one personal best time. It is great to see our young swimmers racing against swimmers for other clubs and having fun at the same time.

This gala provided a great opportunity for the swimmers to gain competitive experience in a friendly environment and gain the necessary times for the North Midlands gala in the autumn. Some swam times beyond the North Mids level and achieved qualifying times for the Cheshire County Championships, which is a great achievement!

Steve, Adam and Sean were pleased to see all the skills and techniques you practice during training were on display during the racing. However, they have picked up some things that they will work on now in training before galas start again next season.

It was good to see all the swimmers competing individually but acting as a team, cheering each other on, congratulating each other on their successes and supporting each other when the race did not go to plan. Well done to you all!
